Loved Up London
London Fashion Week autumn/winter 09/10

One of my favourite fashion weeks would have to be London and this year it did not disappoint. There's something about London fashion, having lived there for a year I fell in love with the designers quirky sense of style and street chic. This year many of the designers opted for vibrant colour with orange, purple and pink the hot picks (Marios Schwab was my fave). Long, flowy dresses have hit the scene thanks to Ossie Clark , although the mini LBD has been reborn... with sequins and fanfare courtesy of Louise Goldin. Issue 10 of Wedding Style Guide, on sale 25th March, will feature a London fashion week round up in London Calling so keep your eyes peeled!

The Colour Purple
Purple is a colour that can either look great or garish so it's important to get it right. Purple was a hot colour on the catwalks of New York Fashion Week with Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta creating some masterful pieces in this gorgeous hue. More often than not it's best to opt for bits and pieces in purple rather than go the whole hog. Purple flowers can make a table look truly beautiful and teamed with purple bridesmaids dresses and pewter accessories it's a look worthy of a royal celebration. Below I've created a Polyvore of purple pieces that may give you some hints on how to add this delightful colour to your wedding palette. We did a great story on purple called 'Moody Hues' on page 78 of issue 7 so click here www.styleguide.com.au to have a peek. The colour purple has never been so hip.

For the Kiddies
These days it's very common for children to be involved in weddings whether they are in the bridal party or just guests. Mini Style is a great website filled with great ideas for clothes and gifts for the little one's. It's always a nice idea, if you're having a kids table at your wedding, to have some bits and pieces on the table to keep them occupied. The rubber alphabet stamps are a great idea! They also have sweet silk dresses that would make cute flowergirl dresses. Visit www.ministyle.com.au to browse the collection.

White on the Night
The 81st Academy Awards

There's no night on the planet that catches the eye of the fashion set more than the Academy Awards. The 2009 Oscar's proved to be a white night with many stars opting for the softest shade. Sarah Jessica Parker's Dior gown in the palest of mint greens was a standout with Marissa Tomei's Versace gown the epitome of amazing. Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard went for the traditional ball gowns, however I adored Melissa George's white creation - so sexy yet sophisticated and truly glamorous. Brad and Ange looked as glamorous as always while Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens oozed glamour and, in my eyes, took the prize for the hottest couple of the night. Visit www.oscar.com to view all the stars and their amazing dresses.

New York, New York
Autumn/Winter 09/10
Who says winter's drab and dreary? New York's designers have obviously taken a stand against the cold economic climate parading a plethora of colourful, detailed gowns down the autumn/winter 09/10 catwalks. Red's, purple's, gold's and yellow's were the popular choices with embroidery and rouching being the star details. My favourite shows would have to have been Carolina Herrera and Oscar de la Renta. Their attention to detail, vibrancy and pure gorgeousness got my tick of approval. To view the collections in their entirety visit www.vogue.com.au.
